About

This bread was put into the oven nearly 2000 years ago and it was only just taken out. It was found by archaeologists who were excavating Herculaneum, near Pompeii, which was destroyed in the eruption of Mt Versuvius in 79 AD.

This video from the British Museum demonstrates how to make the kind of bread that was found.
