About

When Dippy the Diplodocus sets off on his first UK tour, the Natural History Museum took the opportunity to do a 3D scan of his head.

If you head over to their website you can explore Dippy’s skull in more detail than ever before. Use your mouse to move the scan around and you can even zoom in and out. If you click on the numbers they will give you more information about Dippy’s skeleton.

We love dinosaurs over here at Show Me HQ, if you do too, why not check out our top ten places to see dinosaurs in the UK and our favourite dinosaur facts.

You can also look through a photo album of Dippy’s life made by the Natural History Museum

Teacher notes

3D scans like this one are a great way to introduce students to the possibilities of 3D technology.
